Adding Pervasive to the Engagement Lexicon (a new Russian doll)

March 17th, 2011 - 2:42 pm § in Observations, The Engagement Tier | | 1 Comment
As you know I have recently joined SDL and I have been delighted to find a new twist on the business of engagement that I write about on this blog, something we call Pervasive Engagement. Ah hah! I can already hear the cynics pursing their lips and maybe clicking on the back button as you suspect that I've either over done it on a new brand of Kool Aid,  my transformation to the dark side is complete or perhaps here is another vendor trying to carve a new segment – but please hear me out. Who Will Buy This Web Engagement?

December 23rd, 2010 - 3:18 pm § in Content Management, Gilbane, Observations, The Engagement Tier | | 11 Comments
As the holidays approach, my SKY+ hard disk (PVR/Tivo thing) is brimming with movies ready for the onset of quality time with my young family. Perhaps our viewing pleasure as I recuperated from what I anticipate to be a fine lunch could be an old movie that I think will entertain the girls - the musical Oliver!. In it they sing “Who will buy”, something I have been hearing on blogs and twitter about Web Engagement. [ read more ]

Joining the Trend for WCM Trends

January 6th, 2010 - 12:22 pm § in Content Management, Observations | | 1 Comment
I'm going to kick off 2010 with a blog post about Web Content Management, enough for now of my wittering on about my place in the social web or even web engagement. Content is still king and as I catch up with three weeks or so of my RSS reader, it seems that at the end of last year - the decade - that there was a new CMS blogging trend and it's for talking about trends, the CMS blogosphere was alive with predictions. All worthy of comment and I thought maybe I can chuck in some thoughts of my own. [ read more ]

Software Developers: The New Rock Stars of Marketing

September 18th, 2009 - 1:48 pm § in Observations | | 1 Comment
I smiled at this the other day -"Software Developers: The New Rock Stars of Marketing" - it comes from the article  'Out of the Box' published a few weeks ago in the UK Financial Times, that talks about the role of technology in marketing in the new media age. The smile is because this is pinned up on the kitchen noticeboard in our Bristol office and that phrase is highlighted (can someone explain why developers always sit nearest the kitchen?). So has the geek inherited the earth? Well, marketing anyway... [ read more ]

The Future of Content Management

August 19th, 2009 - 7:00 pm § in Content Management, Social Media | | 4 Comments
CMS bloggers of the world have been double dared again, not this time by @kasthomas, but by Julian Wraith (@julianwraith)- who in this post wants the CMS community to gaze into our crystal balls and speculate on the future of Content Management.I think the Future of Content Management is about people. Is that too predictable, does this mean I am going to wang on about ease of use? [ read more ]

Techrigy and Persuasive Content

July 31st, 2009 - 9:06 pm § in Persuasive Content, Web Engagement | | 1 Comment
A couple of weeks ago Alterian aquired Techrigy who specialize in Social Media Monitoring and whilst its obviously exciting to be part of an organisation that is confidently aquiring and growing - it's even better when it's an absolutely gem that has everyone talking. So, I thought I'd better jot down a few thought on this - what does Social Media Monitoring mean for Web Content Management? [ read more ]

It's Alterian!

May 20th, 2008 - 12:45 pm § in Observations | | No Comments
After a short period of fevered speculation our potential acquirer was announced on Friday as Alterian plc - I say potential as it's subject to all the customary closing conditions which are likely to take six weeks to complete. [ read more ]
